I was 7 lbs. 5oz. and 20 inches. I was born at 10:14 pm. Mommy went to the hospital at 6:00 pm. Her friend Ms. Takako took her there. My brother Joshua was with her. My daddy came in around 7:30. My doctor came in around 9:00. Mommy had epidural, so she said she didn’t have much pain. I came out after just 4 pushes. I had my first meal at 10:45. I was very hungry and I knew, somehow, how to eat. I spent the night with mommy and daddy. |

I visited my doctor French for the first time. I weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz.
I needed to have another test for jaundice. So, mommy took me to Morton Plant Hospital lab. A nurse took my blood sample. She stuck a needle in my heel. That was horrible. I cried! The out side world is not so easy to live in. More pain.
Mommy took me to the Taekwondo Do-jang for the first time. Although, I have been there before I was born, I finally met everyone whose voices I've always heard. Everyone was very nice to me and I got a lot of compliments. Thank you, thank you. |

I had to take another PKU test. I was still too yellow, the doctor said. I got another prickle in my heel. I hate it! |

I had a doctor's appointment again at 11:45. I weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. I'm gaining back my weight. Mommy sure feeds me well. |

| 7/16/06 Slept too much |
I don’t know what was wrong with me last night. I slept at 9:30 pm last night to 5:30 am this morning. I must be so full or very exhausted. I slept for 8 hours straight! |
| |
| 7/18/06 went out for walk |
We took a walk for the first time. (Of course I couldn't walk yet, so I was in my stroller.) Mommy, Jeremy, Joshua, Bear (our dog)and I went to Scott Paint on Missouri Ave. The walk was pretty fun for me , but Joshua sweat and complained a lot.
I slept from 12:00 am to 8:15 am. I slept for 8 hours again.

My one month check up. I weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz. this time. I was told that I was still too yellow, so I had to see the doctor after one week again. |
| |
| 8/9/06 Check up |
So, here I am again at the doctor’s office. I weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz. and was 22 inches long. The doctor said a baby was supposed to gain 1 oz. per day, but I gained 13 oz. in 7 days. So, it means I eat a lot. Yes, I am always hungry and mommy sure feeds me well! |

| 8/12/06 My first smile |
Mrs. Stoefen always watches me while mommy is doing Taekwondo practice. So, by now I recognize her face. When I see her, I smile at her. Mommy was not sure I smiled on purpose or if it was just a “baby fake smile”. Mommy, that was NOT your imagination. Yes, I smiled at her. |

I usually fall a sleep while I am eating. Otherwise, I cannot fall a sleep. Last night, I tried to sleep after mommy gave me 4 oz. of her breast milk with bottle. I asked mommy to nurse me, but she said no. I cried. It usually works. If I cry 2 -3 minutes, longest 5 minutes, mommy gives me what I want.
However, last night, around 12: 30, she said her nipples were too sore and she kept patting me but didn’t nurse me. I know I wasn’t hungry, but I needed to suck, so I could sleep. I cried and cried and cried . Mommy was so stubborn. So, I squirmed and hit and kicked mommy , but she kept patting my back and still didn’t offer. I was getting tired and I guess I fell asleep .
When I woke up this morning, it was already 6:30. Oh, my! I not only fell asleep without sucking a nipple but also slept 6 hours! Mommy won this time, I have to admit. Well, who knows, I will win next time….maybe, you’ll see.

Usually, there is either Mrs. Stoefen, Ms. Lord, or Mrs. Roberts at the do-jong, and they keep me company. However, today, there were no observers. After my “after dinner snack”, I thought I had to be alone and got bored.
But when I got back in the do-jong, there was Mr. Roberts and he held out his arms toward me. That was the first time he watched me. He smiled at me and I enjoyed spending time with him. He talked to me for awhile, then he pulled me up, so I (kind of) stood. Of course, I cannot really “stand” yet. Too bad. I stooped. Then, Mr. Roberts pulled me up again. I stood then stooped. We repeated that. Then I realized that I was doing squats! I did pretty well, so I bet Mr. Roberts was proud of me! |

| 8/26/06 First formula |
I know I like to eat because It’s mommy’s blood. I am growing, so I need to eat. In earlier days, mommy produced more milk than I could eat, so she pumped and froze them. Recently, I want more milk than mommy can produce, so mommy gave me her pumped milk.
However, the day finally came. Yes, her milk ran out. Today, I took something other than mommy’s milk for the first time. Baby formula! It tastes …well, all right. I kinda like it. I felt so full. The next thing I would do is …you know. Everyone needs to do it. It is very healthy. I was very satisfied.

| 9/5/06 2 months old |
I woke up at 5:00 o’clock in the morning. Mommy fed me. She usually gets up at 5:30 to prepare for breakfast and lunch. Jeremy & Joshua’s school finally starts at a new location today. (The school was closed the whole last week.) So, mommy made sure that my brothers could get to school on time.
After I ate, I usually sleep, but I didn’t feel like it this morning, because I am 2 months old now! I decided to stay around with mommy. She put me in my “Baby Papa-san” in the kitchen. I watched her make breakfast & lunch for the first time. She looked very busy, but she sure was quick. By 6:45, she finished. My brothers woke up and ate breakfast. Usually, mommy eats breakfast around 8:30, because I cry for my food. But today, I let her eat. What do you think? I am 2 months old, I'm cool, not an uncontrollable new born baby! I waited until 8:00. Mommy was very happy because she ate her breakfast already.
Later today, we went to the do-jang. I was happy to see my auntie Stephanie. She has been gone for the whole last week to visit her mommy in NY. When Auntie Stephanie finished her practice, I cried to get her attention. So, she picked me up and sang for me. I enjoyed her singing. (Please see the photo.)
When we got home, mommy found a package from her college friend, Brandee. She lives in Virginia. She sent me a big green stuffed frog (daddy thought that it was a dinosaur) for my 2nd month birthday present. Thank you.

| 9/6/06 My first immunization shots |
Oh, my goodness! I had a horrible day!
I had my 2-month check up appointment with my doctor today at 11:00. Mommy bathed me to make sure I smelled good for my doctor. I don’t have any hard feelings visiting the doctor’s office. They weighed and measured me (I was 11 lb. 14 oz., which I am in 75 percentile range and 24 ¼ inches, which I am in 95 percentile range), and listened to my heart beat and so on. Today’s visit went just as I expected…for the first half.
Then, a young nurse came in with a tray. She wiped my right thigh, and OUCH!! She said “Sorry”, but she stung me one more time. I screamed, but it only lasted a moment and was over very quickly. …At least I thought. Then, she wiped my left thigh and stung! AHGGGGG!!! It hurt so badly. It was worse. I screamed and cried . She said “sorry” again, but that doesn’t count. I was mad . But then, she gave me something very sweet (mommy said that it was medicine, so I won’t feel much pain). I liked it. It made me smile. Maybe the pain was worth it…NOOOOT!!!

| 9/8/06 Grape Juice |
Since I liked Baby Tylenol two days ago, mommy gave me 3 baby spoonful of white grape juice. …And I liked it
However, later when mommy told about it to her big sister, who lives in Tokyo and has 3 kids, she said mommy shouldn’t have given juice since I am only 2 months old. I guess I have to wait for few more months to taste it again.

| 9/10/06 Slept in my crib |
I was very busy yesterday. Mommy took me to Babies 'R’ us. She took “Baby sign” class and went shopping at Sam’s Club. My brothers went to their friend’s house and weren’t home. So, mommy had to clean the house all by herself while I was crying. Mommy & I were exhausted by 8:00 pm and we fell asleep. We woke up around 10:30 pm and I was still hungry. While mommy was taking a shower, daddy fed me baby formula. Then he put me in my crib. I cried for a while but I was too tired to keep crying. I fell asleep…in my crib.
When I woke up at 7:00 this morning, I was still in my crib. That was the first time I ever slept in my crib. (Mommy said she hasn’t slept in her bed for over 2 months until last night.) It means that I slept all by myself for the first time! Mommy has always slept with me, but last night. I’m not sure if I liked it or not. Let me think again about it tonight.

| 11/4/06 On My Belly |
I wanted to get my toy. I cried for help , but mommy was vacuuming and couldn’t hear me. (Well, actually I learned later that she CHOSE not to hear me, so she would finish cleaning. ) It was there, in my bed and I could reach it but not so easily.
I crossed my right leg over my left leg. In that way, my body was twisted. I strained and I kiaped, just like I hear every day at the do-jang. My left arm was in the way and I was stuck in a twisting position. I kiaped again and again. I swung my right arm, too.
Then, all of the sudden, I was on my belly. Yes, I ROLLED OVER ALL BY MYSELF .
When mommy finally came, she asked Jeremy, who was there first, if he put me on my belly. Jeremy said he didn’t. So, they figured out I DID. I looked at them and gave them a big grin .

| 11/7/06 My first meal |
I went to my 4-month check up. I weigh 16 lbs. 6.9 oz and my height was 26 and ¼ inches. My doctor said I was a very big girl. She guessed my daddy was big. After I saw my doctor, mommy nursed me. But while I was drinking, a nurse came in and gave me immunization shots, one to each of my legs. I was surprised and scream for the first time, but I didn’t even say anything for the second one.
So, guess what! My doctor also said that I can start eating solid food now. Wow, it is so exciting. I always watch my brothers’ eating and am very interested.
So, mommy made rice cereal with baby formula. It was very soupy and taste like…milk. I didn’t know how to eat at first. My tongue pushed food out against my will . But in the end, somehow I managed to swallow some food.
Oh, what an exciting day! I’m so exhausted and sleepy. …Wait, this is maybe because of the medicine mommy gave me for the pain?

I’m getting used to eat rice cereal. Mommy thinks I eat very well.
So, she gave me carrot today. She didn’t use ready-made baby food. She mashed some carrots by herself, so the carrots were not as smooth as I could eat. However, the soup tastes good , so I ate all she gave me. |
| |
| 11/21/06 First Tooth |
Since I started eating solid foods, I’m getting used to having things in my mouth. Usually, I spit out things in my mouth after I finish eating . However, I noticed something stuck in my under my gum . It is a small but hard thing and I cannot get rid of it.
Mommy was cleaning my gum and exclaimed. “She has a tooth! ”
I guess that’s what it’s called. And I think it will stay there .

| 11/22/06 Used Commode |
I farted and felt poo poo coming out. Mommy looked at me and took off my diaper.
Next, I was sitting in the commode . Mommy supported me from falling in it. I was pretty comfortable. Then, poo poo came out.
Mommy smiled and said, “Good girl. You did it. You are great.”
I don’t know if it was THAT big of a deal, because it was so easy. And I liked it because poo poo didn’t get on my bottom.

| 1/9/07 6 month check-up |
I went to my 6 month check-up today.
When mommy took my clothes off and put me on a scale, I wasn’t comfortable. So, I cried . I am 19 lbs. 2.3 oz. and 27 ½ inches long. I am a big girl for a 6-month old baby.
A doctor came to see me. She was so nice and gentle. She checked in my mouth and told mommy that I was getting upper teeth .
After she left, mommy gave me formula. I felt very sleepy, but a nurse came in, so I had to wake up. Mommy put me on an examination bed. The nurse wiped my leg…then OUCH!!!!!! That hurt! I cried. But she wiped my other leg and did the sticking thing again. OUCH!!!!!!!! I cried harder and looked at mommy. She said sorry but it didn’t make anything better.
Mommy gave me the rest of my milk. I was still crying but the milk was good. I was so sleepy. I guess….that red, sweet thing….mommy gave me……….made ……me……sleepy…….zzzzzz.
